returned by the Officers, and at Length they were overpowered
by the Smugler, who thereupon rescued th seizure and drove
away the same with Horses and Court as fast as possible
towards swan comb And this Informant saith that in
driving so violently Four of the Bags humbled from the
Cart which the Officers secured and lock to Mr. Hyam
at Greenhise and less in his Charge, which has since
been secured in the Kings Warehouse at Erith and Weighed
about One hundred and Sixty Pounds of Leaf Johnson
And this Informant Further Saith that Seizure of the said
Tobacco was made by him and the said other Officers for not
Come in the Original Package and not knowing a Certificate
to accompany its removal-that the Rescue happened about
seven o'Clock in the Evening and that he know none
of the Smugler, by Name but think, he could identify
the Person of thetwofirst mentioned two that [..] spoke
to him at the Inn and who wanted to compromise and is sure
that the Prisoner now under Examination is one of these
Men and also one of these Armed as aforesaid who fired
at and wounded the Officers and by force and violence rescued
the said Cart Horses and Goods and observe away the same as
aforesaid
