The Information of Esther [..] the Wife of
William Knight< no role > the Younger, who personally appeared before me
William Curtis< no role > Esquire one of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace
in and for the City of London and who requires from one the said Justice Susti [..] of the Pedee [..] of her said Husband Who, being upon Oath, saith that her
said Husband to whom she hath been married a Year and an half
hath at sundry Times since behaved in a very violent and outrageous
Manner, swearing and blasting, and threatening her Life Says
that from such Conduct and Language of her said Husband she
hath frequently been in Danger of her Life from her said Husband
Says that he has frequently beat and bruised her.

And this, Informant further saith that the
last Time her said Husband behaved ill to her was [..] on Wednesday
Morning last when he swore very much at her, called her a half hanged
Wretch and a Gallows Bitch

And this Informant further saith that she
gow in Fear and Danger of his Life, or of to bodily Harm to be
done or caused to be done unto her by her said Husband, and does
not [..] claim Sureties of the Peace of him from any [..]
or Malea, but to preserve herself from Danger.

London this 16th September 1786 before me}
