The Examinations of John Armstrong< no role >
and James Shakeshaft both Officers of the Peace of the
County of Middlesex Who being on Oath Severally
say that on Saturday Night last about half after nine
o'Clock they apprehended the Prisoner Edward Paile< no role > as he
was running in Pump Court near Gravel Lane , Houndsditch
in the City of London , and the said John Armstrong< no role > for
himself saith, that he first Stopt the Prisoner; seeing him
with a Bundle, and asked him what he had, that the
Prisoner twice said he had his own Property, Whereupon
he was searched ,and the four Gowns now produced were
taken from him by them these Examinant they say
that the Prisoner while they were conveying him [..] the Compter
beg'd to be let go, said he would never do such a Thing again, and
if they would let him go he could go for an East India Soldier.
