The Order of Richard Clark< no role > Lord Mayor of the City of
London and Benjamin Hammet< no role > one of the Alderman
of the said City two of his Majesty's Justices of
the Peace in and for the said City one whereof is
of the Quorum, and both residing next unto the Limits of
the Parish Church within the Parish of Saint Michael in
Cornhill in the said City
made the Eighth Day of October in the
Year of on Lord One thousand seven hundred
and eighty five concerning male
Bastard Child, lately born in the Lying inn Hospital in the parish of
Saint Saviour in Southwark in the County of Surrry aforesaidof the Body of
Charlotte Fitch< no role > Single Woman .

WHEREAS it hath appeared unto us the said Justices, as well upon the Complaint
of the Church Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said parish of Saint Michael in
Cornhill in the said City of London as upon the Oath of the said Charlotte Fitch
that she the said Charlotte Fetch on the Tenth Day of May
now last past, was delivered of a male Bastard Child, in the Lining inn
Hospital In the said [..] Saint Saviour Southwark in the said County
of Surrey and that the said Male [..] to be chargeable
to the said Parish of Saint Michael in Cornhill the place of Settlement of the said Charlotte Fetch< no role > and further, that
Thomas Bayley< no role > an Apprentice to in the said Mackey of Cornhill in the said City was chandler did beget the said
Bastard Child on the Body of her the said Charlotte Fetch and Whereas
the said Thomas Bayley< no role > hath appeared before us this Day in pursuance of
a Summons for that purpose but hath not shewed sufficient Cause why he the said
Thomas Bayley< no role > shall not be adjudged the reputed Father of the said Male Bastard Child

We therefore, upon Examination of the Cause and Circumstance of the Premises, as well
upon the Oath of the said Charlotte Fetch< no role > as otherwise, do hereby
adjudge him the said Thomas Bayley< no role > to be the reputed Father of the said
Bastard Child.

And thereupon we do Order, as well for the better Relief of the said Parish of St. Michael
in Cornhill as for the Sustentation and Relief of the said Bastard Child, that the
said Thomas Bayley< no role > shall and do forthwith, upon Notice of this our Order,
pay or cause to be said to the said Church Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said
Parish of St Michael in Cornhill or to some or one of them the Sum of Four Pounds
for and towards the Lying in of the said Charlotte Fetch and the Maintenance
of the said Bastard Child, to the Time of making this our Order.

And we do also hereby further Order, that the said Thomas Bayley< no role > shall likewise
pay, or cause to be paid,to the Church-Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said
Parish of St. Michael in Cornhill for the Time being, or to some or one of them, the sum of two
Shillings Weekly and every Week from the present Time, for and towards the
Keeping, Sustentation, and Maintenance of the said Bastard Child, for and during so long
Time as the said Bastard Child shall be chargeable to the said Parish of St. Michael in Cornhill
And we do further Order, that the said Charlotte Fetch shall also pay,
or cause to be paid to the said Church-Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of
St. Michael in Cornhill for the Time being, or to some or one of them, the Sum of two
Shillings and Sixpence Weekly and every Week, for long as the said Bastard Child
shall be chargeable to the said Parish of St Michael in Cornhill in case she shall not nurse
and take Care of the said Child herself.
