That the said Deft on the said 21st. Day of December in the 25th. Year of
the Reign of our Soverign Lord the King and long before and always after until
the Day of the taking of this Inquisition was inhabiting and resiant
paying Scott and bearing Lott within the said Parish of Saint Martin Outwich
in the said Ward of Bishopsgate in London aforesaid and that within the same
Ward there is and from Time whereof the Memory of Man is not to the
contrary there hath been a certain Court of our said Lord the Predecessors and
his Majesty's Predecessors called the Wardmote held and to be held in every
Year upon the Feast of Saint Thomas the appostle (unless the same Feast
happened to be or fell on a Sunday and in such case upon the Day next
following that Feast) before the Aldermen of the said Ward for the Time being
or in his absence before the Mayor of the said City for the Time being in which
said Court of Wardmote according to the said Custom within the said used and
approved during the Time last aforesaid to wit in the Parish of St. Helen in
the Ward aforesaid All the Men inhabiting and resiant paying Scott and bearing
Lott within the Ward aforesaid from the Time being have been used and accustomed
and ought and Were bound by reason of their Residence to appear and do their
Suit there in the same Court and that within the said the Men inhabiting &
resiant paying Scott and bearing Lott within the said Ward for the Time being were
Yearly during the Time aforesaid used and accustomed and ought to appoint and
chuse divers persons then inhabiting and resiant and paying Scott & bearing
Lott within the Ward aforesaid Constables in and for the said Ward for the
preserving the Peace of the Lord the King and for the apprehending of Rogues
Vagabonds and other suspicious persons within the Ward aforesaid for the
Public good which said persons so as aforesaid appointed and chosen were used
and accustomed and ought to hold the same Office for the Year then next ensuing
and until other Persons shod. be elected into the sd. Office And also were used and
accustomed and ought on the Monday next after the Feast of the Epiphany
next after their said Election at the Guildhall of the said City of London
in the Court then and there [..] before the Mayor & Aldermen of the said City
for the Time being for all the Time aforesaid to take their corporal Oath
for the due Execution of their said office of Constable and that the said
