The King agt. William Murphy< no role > for Felony

William Young< no role > Knight of Great Marlborough Street in the
Parish of Saint James Westminster in the County of Middlesex
Agent to the Solicitor of the Admiralty maketh Oath and saith
That the abovenamed William Murphy< no role > was committed by Mr.
Alderman Wright< no role > at Guildhall London on or about the seventh
day of February last on a Charge of forging the last Will and
Testament of Henry Griffiths< no role > late a Seaman belonging to His
Majesty's Hoop the Arrow deceased That this Deponent immediately
set on foot an enquiry after the next of Kin of the said Henry Griffiths< no role >
in order to ground an Application to the Prerogative
Court of Canterbury in the name of such next of Kin for a
Citation directed to the Prisoner to bring in the Probate of the
said Will and prove the same by Witnesses which Proceeding this
Deponent is advised and believes was necessary to be had
before an Indictment could be properly preferred against the
Prisoner for the said Offence And this Deponent saith that
learning from an inspection of the Master books of several
of His Majesty's Ships as the Ticket Office of the Navy that
the said Henry Griffiths< no role > had been pressed by the Civil Power
at Portsmouth on the twenty fifth of November one thousand
seven hundred and eighty and put on board His Majesty's
Ship the Nemesis this Deponent thereupon wrote a Letter
to Messr. Binsteed and Greetham Attorneys at Law at
Portsmouth with instructions to make inquiry whether the
said Griffiths had been a resident and had left any
Relations at that place And this Deponent saith that the
Said Binsteed and Greetham on the ninth day of the said
February acquainted the Solicitor of the Admiralty by Letter
that they had found out the Peace Officer who impressed the
said deceased and believed they should be able in a few
days to hear something of his relations And this Deponent
further saith that the said Binsteed and Greetham having
by another Letter dated the twenty first day of the said
February acquainted the Solicitor of the Admirally that they
could not after the most diligent inquiry learn any thing of the
relations of the said Griffiths this Deponent thereupon drew up
an Advertisement for the next of Kin of the said deceased
to apply to this Deponent at his House in Great Marlborough
Street and specifying in such Advertisement the several
Ships on board which the said deceased had served from
the time of his so as aforesaid being impressed to the time of
his death and inserted the same in the Morning and
Evening Newspapers but saith that no person hath yet
applied in consequence thereof to his knowledge and belief
