Second day of August last committed to Prison for unlawfully
knowingly and designedly obtaining by false pretences from this
Deponent
sundry Articles of Wearing Apparel of the Value
of Nine Pounds the property of the said Evan Evans< no role >
and
John Pastman< no role >
. That this Deponent
gave Instructions for
having the Indictment drawn up against the said Benjamin
Parke< no role >
of Wednesday last, but the said Evan Evans< no role >
having
informed this Deponent
that he had met one of the Gentlemen
of the Grand Jury who informed him that the Grand Jury
would sit till Monday evening at Seven o'Clock this Deponent
at the desire of the said Evan Evans< no role >
delayed attending to
prefer the said Indictment tillthisYesterday Morning when on
his attending for that purpose he was informed the Grand
Jury were discharged And this Deponent further Saith
that he did not neglect to prefer the said Indictment
with a view to disappoint public Justice or to favour
the prisoner [..] but for the Reason above mentioned.
