on behalf of himself and all other Consumes of Rape
Seed in and about the City of London
.
Sheweth
That by an Act of Parliament made and passed in the fifteenth
Year of the Reign of His Present Majesty intituled "An Acts for encouraging
the Manufacture of Rape Oil and other Vegetables Acts, in this Kingdom
by reducing the Duties on Rape seed and other Seeds producing Oil
imported from Ireland, and for allowing the free Importation of Rape
Cakes for Manure from Ireland to this Kingdom "it is enacted.
That from and after the first day of August one thousand seven
hundred and seventy five whenever the price of Middling British Rape
seed at the ports and places where Rape seed shall be imported into
this Kingdom shall appear according to the methods directed by the
several Acts of Parliament for ascertaining the Rated and prices of
Corn and Grain imported, to be at or above the price of Seventeen pounds
and ten shillings per Last all duties theretofore imposed upon or payable
on account of any Rape seed, or other Seed commonly made use of for the
purpose of extracting Oil from the same imported from Ireland, should
cease determine and be no longer paid, and in her thereof there should be
paid this Majesty his Heirs and Successors a Duty of One Shilling per
Last and no more upon all Rape Seed and upon all other seeds commonly
made use of for the purpose of extracting Oil therefrom such Seeds being of
the Growth of Ireland
and imported from thence into Great Britain.
That your Petition is now ready to prove to this Honourable
Court that the prices of Middling British Rape Seed now exceed the price
of Seventeen pounds and ten shillings per Last as specifyed in the said Cut
Your Petitioner therefore humbly prays this Honourable
Court to Certify the same to the Collector of the Customs of this
Port of London
And Your Petitioner will ever Pray Etc.
