Public House in Chancery Lane whose he opened said
Purse which contained a Receipt for a Ring which was
in said Purse and appeared to this Informant to be
a very valuable Ring which Receipt appeared to be the
Receipt of a Mr. Smith for said Ring for the sum of
£227..18..6that whilst this Informant was looking
at said Ring another Man (whom this Informant) doth
not know came in) whom Anderson asked read said
Receipt, which he did, and asked said Anderson if he had
found it, to which Anderson replied that the said Ring
and Receipt were found by him and this Informant
that said Man told said Anderson and this Informant
that they had made a good afternoons WorkThat said
Anderson then said that he would keep said Ring and
give him One half of the value for that he had a Friend
who was going to the East Indies and that it would be
of more service to him that the MoneyThat said
Anderson desired him to stop, and that he would go to a
Friend of his, and get the MoneyThat said he then delivered
said Ring to said Man (who had come in as aforesaid)
observing at same time, that it would more be fair to leave
it with him as he was a strangers to bothThat said
Anderson then went away, and said Man told this Informant
that he need not be afraid of him, for that he was a
Clerk at Drummonds the Bankers and observed to him
that he ought to take Care of said Anderson as there
were many Sharpers about, and as said Anderson
came fromsaidthe same County as he did, to desire him to mention
some Persons name who live there, that he knewThat
