Who being upon Oath say, and first the said John
Robertson says that four o Clock in the afternoon
of a day about the latter end of April or beginning of
May last as he was walking along Fleet Street
a person
now present who calls himself John Anderson< no role >
came
up to him and observed to him that it was a hot day
and that it was hotter on our side of the Street, than the
other and that it was not so warm in his Country
That he this Informant then asked John Anderson< no role >
what
County he came from, who answered that he came
from Scotland
That he asked said Anderson what part,
to which, he replied that he came from New Venal
Street near Glasgow and that he knew one Thomas
Peterson, who then lived there, and that he was his
Uncle
That he this Informant immediately saw said
Anderson stoop< no role >
down, and pick up something, which this
Informant perceived was a Purse on which he asked
him what was in it, to which this Informant was
answered by said Anderson that he felt something soft
in it and that he believed it contained Bank Notes
and as he had seen him find it, he should have part
of itThat said Anderson said he would not open it
in the Street, as it would be dangoures, for that some person
might come up who might claim it, tho' not the Owner
That said Anderson and this Informant went into a
