The Examination of Jonathan Wood< no role >
who is brought before me James Townsend< no role > Esquire
One of his Majesty< no role > 's Justices of the peace in and
for the said City by William Catchpole< no role > Constable
being apprehended for attempting to pick the pocket
of a person this day in Guildhall , and saith that
his Fathers name is Ralph Wood< no role > , that he is a stock
Broker, and lodges at the two Brewers Alehouse
at London Wall , that since the Conclusion of the
Irich Lottery< no role > he hath lived with his sd. Father, and that
during the Drawing of that Lottery he lived with
Mr Nicholson the late Sheriff and had a Guinea & a
half a Week for six Weeks, says that he lodges with
his said Father breakfasts & dines with him, and has
money of him whenever he wants it, says that
[..] his Father was, whilst Sir George Colebrook< no role >
was in Business Clerk to him as a Banker, but from
the time of his leaving that house he has acted as a
Broker, that this Examinant has lived two years
with one Mr Debert a Merchant that he quitted
his service between four and five years ago, that
he want from thence to live with one Mr. Filewood a
Carpenter & Builder in Piccadilly a Relation of his
Mothers, as a Clerk, that he lived with him two years
then left him, having at that time the Misfortune to
break his Thighhe then went into the County and
staid three months, until he got his strength again
that he then went to live with a Mr. Russell a Soap Bailer
in the Minories & remained with him about four
or five Months, he then went to live with Barnes
pearce Lottery< no role > Office Keeper in Cornhill, & remained
then during the drawing of the their Lottery and was
paid one Guinea a Week he then went to live with
Mr. Pond a Father in Cornhill & remained about three
Months to get in his Bills, that he then went to Mr. Nicholson< no role >
during the drawing of the Lottery, says he has been with
Mrs. Nicholson during threeYearsLotteries
