The Information of Thomas Greenland of Troomey
Selwood in the County of Somerset Clothier and Wm. Tankard of Gray Hound Yard Chick Lane Watchmans Taken
this 19th Novr 1782 And first the Informant Thomas
Greenland for himself

Saith, that on Friday last between the Hours of Eleven and Twelve
at Night as Informant was going from the Bell in Holborn to the
Kings Arms Holborn Bridge , he was laid hold of by the Prisoner
Elizabeth Stephens< no role > in the Street, who requested his going up with her,
into a Passage near, where informant there Stood, that the Prisoner
Elizabeth Stephens< no role > put her hands into his Pockets, that Informant desired
she would desist apprehending that She designed to Robbinghim, that
the Prisoner Stephens thereupon laid hold of Informant round his Waist
with both her Arms, and another Woman in Company with the Prisoner
put her Hand into his Side Pocket, and took with force and against his will, out of his
Pocket, a Pocket Book containing (as he verily believes) four Guineas in Gold
and Several Accounts and Receipts; that upon the Book being taken Out
of Informants Pockett the Prisoner let loose Informant, and went off in
Company with the said other Woman; Informant immediately upon
the Prisoners leaving him event to the Kings Arms, where upon
Examining his Pocket he missed his Pocket Book, and Money,
whereupon he instantly went out in Pursuit of the Prisoners Stephens
and her Companion whom he learnt was gone into the House of the or.
Prisoner Taylor , where Informant went to, and heard Some person with [..]
(whom he verily believes to be the Prisoner Taylor) say secret the Writings
meaning ( as Informant believes) the Papers contained in his Informants Said Pocket Book,
that Informants thereupon called the Watch, and went with him into
the House, where they found the two Prisoners now under Examination,
in Company with the said other Woman;

That Informant laid hold of the Prisoner Stephens and Charged
her with having Robbed him of his Pocket Book and Money
in Company with the said other Woman whom Informant also
charged the Watchman with, Informant saith that the Prisoner
Taylor then came up to him and desired he could not make
