entirely, and for no other Cause whatsoever, than that he did not
expect the said William Brooks< no role > would so soon have been
called upon his Trial, and that he this Deponent would
have been in time, when he returned from Dinner to appear
and give Evidence against the said William Brooks< no role > for the
Felony aforesaid

And the said Jonathan Wilkins< no role > and John
Fairweather for themselves severally say, that they appeared
before the Grand Jury upon the Bill of Indictment preferred
against the said William Brooks< no role > for the Felony aforesaid
and were waiting at Four Kings Alehouse in the Old
Bailey to have some Refreshment at the time the Trial
of the said William Brooks< no role > was called on, and that
the only reason of their not being in Cout, was, through
the Information they received, and which they verily
believed to be true, that the said WilliamRobertBrook< no role >
was not likely to be tried in two or three hours at
least And these Deponents Further sayth, that they
did not absent themselves from giving Evidence against
the said [..] his Trial but of any [..]
Fear, Favour or Affection or Hope of Reward, but
on Account of believing, that they could safely go and
have some Refreshment, and that their return to the
Court in an hour would be in sufficient time to appear
on the Trial of the said William Brooks< no role > .
