Bury London Drugs Merchant Taken this 20th
Day of April 1782
Saith that having reason to Suspect that he and his Father
had been Robbed of a large quantity of Drugs, and that John
Tennent the Prisoner who then lived with Informant had
been concerned therein whereupon Informant sent for a Constable
to whom he gave the Prisoner and Thomas Clarke< no role >
another
Servant
of Informant in Charge, that he thereupon in Company
with the Constable and the Prisoner Searched their Box as
and in the Box of the Prisoner John Tennent was found
Thirty Six Guineas and upwards, but in that of Clark was no
other then Wearing Aparel and two or three Guineas Saith
that on finding so large a Sum of Money in the Box if the Prisoner
Tennant confirmed his Suspicion and positively charged the
Prisoner
with being concerned therein and told him that he
was sure that some other Person was concerned with him
and that it be necessary for him to discover who they were
to intitle him to favour Informant then promised the Prisoner
that he wod interside with his Father or his behalf if he
discovered his accomplices so that they might be brought to
punishment
. That the Prisoner thereupon made the annexed
Confession which was reduced into Writing and Signed in
the Presence and hearing of Francis Phillips< no role >
& Henry
Washington and Thomas Harrison< no role >
. That Informant upon
the Information of the Prisoner obtained Warrant to Search
the House of Janies Mt. Millan of No. 12 Cartwright Street
East Smithfield
in the County of Middlesex

to whom the
the Prisoner told Informant he had delivered the Drugs
Informant missed. That on Monday last Informant in
Company with a Bowstreet Officer went to the House of Mr Millan
and the Officer knocked at the Door which Mr Millan opened
that the Officer told Mr. Millan he had a Warrant to peach his
House for Stolen Goods and asked Mr. Millan where they were
