Stewart to and living with the said Thomas Speed< no role >
and John Hodge< no role > Servant to Mr Warrington
of Bucklersbury London Taylor. Taken
upon Oath before William Plomer< no role > Esquire one
of the Aldermen of the said CIty this 1st. March
1781

First the Informant Phillip Phillips saith that about Eight
o Clock Yesterday Evening he was desired by the said Other
Informant Thomas Speed< no role > to carry the Poor [..] Basket bottle
now produced to the Swan at Holborn Bridge and that [..]
going there at [..] Bull Court New Gate Street he Put his
Load upon a Pitching Block, [..] That a person
came up to him and asked to go with him to a Public House
near and have a Print of Bear which Informant declined
that during the time he was speaking he turned his Back
to the Parcell during which true the Prisoner Indian Sanders
took it up and was of one away with it as Informant apprehends
That Informant upon informing it man towards old New gate
but not seenig any thing of his parcel he returned towards
Cheap side and in Basino Court met with the Prisoner in
Company with other the say person who spoke to Informant at
the Picking Block with the Parcel on his Back, that he there upon
laid hold of him and secured the Box. That Prisoner escaped from
him whereupon Informant sayed out stop theif and pursued
