John Davies< no role > of Bishopsgate Street London Salt Merchant Maketh Oath
and saith that on or about the Twelfth Day of January last Seventy Five Tens
and an Half or Three Thousand and Twenty Bushells of English Refined Salt
were Shipped or Loaded on Board the Ship or Vessel called the London whereof
George Evans< no role > was then Master at Liverpool in the County of Lancaster in order
to be conveyed by sea to the Port of London for and on Account of this Deponent
the Owner of the said Salt as appears to this Deponent by the Bill of Lading signed
by the said George Evans< no role > And this Deponent saith that the Duty for all the said
Salt hath been paid to His Majesty< no role > And this Deponent saith that he hath been
informed and verily believes that on or about the Twenty seventy Day of the said Month of
January last the said Ship or Vessel with the said Salt on Board her sailed from
Liverpool aforesaid for the said Port of London and that afterwards on or about
the Twenty eighth Day of the said Month of January last the said Ship or Vessel with
the said Salton board her in the Course of her Voyage to London was by the
violence of the Stormy wind and Tempestuous Weather drove on the Rocks
near Port Marie Bay in the Isle of Man and thence
broke to pieces and that thereby the said Ship or Vessel so loaded with the said Salt
and the said George Evans< no role > and all the Gew on board the said Ship or Vessel
were last and did parish at Sea And Lastly this Deponent saith that he verily
believes that all the said Salt so loaded on board the said Ship or Vessel as
aforesaid was totally lost and did perish at Sea by means of the said Ship
or Vessel being so lost at Sea as aforesaid
