John Cookson< no role > of the Inner Temple London Esquire maketh Oath and
saith that on the Seventeenth Day of November last John Pollard< no role > was
committed to New prison at Clerkenwell and Elizabeth Pollard< no role > was
committed to Tothill Fields Bridewell both charged for knowingly
sending and delivering to this Deponent in the City of London a cert [..]
Letter with the Name of Elizabeth Pollard< no role > subscribed thereto threatning
to accuse this Deponent of a Crime punishable by Law with Death
Transportation Pillory or some other infamous Parish meat with
a view and intent to extort and gain Money Goods wares or Merchandizes
from this Deponent contrary to the Statute Etc as appears to this
Deponent by a Copy or Extract of the Commitments of the said John
Pollard and Elizabeth Pollard< no role > And this Deponent saith that James
Wilson is a material Witness for this Deponent or preferring such
Bill or Bills of Indictment against the said John Pollard< no role > and
Elizabeth Pollard< no role > as this Deponent was advised were proper to be
exhibited to the Grand Inquest for the said City touching the Charges
aforesaid and that without the Benefit of the Testimony of the said
James Wilson< no role > this Deponent could not with Safety as he was
advised and verily beleives prefer such Bill or Bills of Indictment
against the said John Pollard< no role > and Elizabeth Pollard< no role > at the present
Session of Oyer and Terminer holden for the said City and this
Deponent saith that the said James Wilson< no role > is a Member of Parliament
for the County of Antrim in the Kingdom of Ireland and is also
a Commander of one of His Majesty< no role > 's Cutters stationed upon the
Coast of Ireland and above three Weeks ago left London in order to
Attend his Duty there and at the time of his so leaving London he
promised this Deponent that he would if possible return to London
so as to be able to attend at the present Session And this Deponent
saith that the said James Wilson< no role > is not yet arrived in this Kingdom
to the Knowledge or Belief of this Deponent And this Deponent
