The Information of Henry Washington< no role > ,
against Thomas Hilliard< no role > , who a charged before
me with having wilfully set fire to his Dwelling
House No. 6 Bird in hand Court in the said city [..] Who on
his Oath saith on Wednesday Morning last
about half past twelve o'Clock, the prisoner
Thomas, Hilliard< no role > came to the Watch house in
Bird in hand Court aforesaid where he this
Informant was sitting as Constable of the night
and seemingly in a great Fright desired
assistance to help him to get his Engine out
for that his House was on Fire, on he believed his
House was on Fire, but which of the two Expression
hethemade use of this Informant cannot now
recollect, upon which Hilliard left the Watch
House, and, as he imagines, with Assistance, and
he this Informant went to Hilliard's House
[..] went up Stairs and into a Room up one
pair of Stairs, when the Door was open & when
he this Informant saw two Women, is not
certain who there Women were: says that he
enquired of these Women when the [..] smoak proceeded from
was told by one of them that they thought it
proceeded from a Chaimney which was or had
been repairing and the next House, upon [..]
receving this Answer he this Informant went
four Stairs, knocks at the next House door &
was let in and inspected into the Chimneys
but saw no Fire there, he went then back into
the Court and saw one Mr. Atkins who told
him he had found out the Fire, and had
brought it downs that on going into
the Watch House he saw the bottom
of the Tub now produced by him and
