Stephen Stephen White [..] Warne< no role > of St. Thomas's
Street No. 39 near in the Parish of St. Thomas the
Apostle Southwark Surgeon and a Pupil belongedbelonging to St.
Thomas's Hospital maketh oath and saith that he
was sent for on Sunday the 8th. day of March instant
abt. 12. at Noon to visit the deced at his Dwelling House
in [..] Cannon Street where he instantly
went and found him complaining of a pain in his
Head imputing it to the ill Usage he had reced from
Banger and says that [..] the deced told Dept. that Banger
had called on the deced at his House and urged him to go
out with him, and that after they had gone together to
the London Stone Tavern , they afterwards went to the
King's Arms Tavern in Cornhill , Mr. Banger called for
a Room there and being conducted to oneRoomthey both
went into the Room and Banger locked and bolted the
Door on the inside, that Banger then demanded
satisfaction of the deced,but did not mention any
Particular injury done andfor the money the deced had
had of their Folts (meaning Mr. Rawlins's Family) to
which the deced answered that as he did not one him or
any of his Family any thing it was no business of his
to concern himself abt. or to that effect, that then Banger
produced a Pair of Distols anddeceased [..] the deced's taking
one which on the deced's declining to threatened to
cane the deced and did cane him and broke the Cane abt.
the deced and gave him sevl. Blows with his First the
deced defending himself [..] against the Banger
but Banger soon over powered the deced and left the Room
that afterwards this Dept. applied a Bread and Milk Paltrie
to the deced's Fact and attended him daily as a Friend as
well as Surgeon till he died which happened on Tuesday
last the [..] 10th. inst. Says he apprehends the Bruises the
deced from Banger were the immediate Occasion of his
death.
