maketh Oath and Saith
that he this Deponent was bound by recognizance to appear
at the last Session of the peace and Gaol Delivery of Newgate holden for the City
of London
in September last and prosecute Joseph Newman< no role >
for stealing two silver Tea Spoons And this Deponent
further saith that he did prefer a Bill of Indictment against
the said Joseph Newman< no role >
for the same and attended
the Court Ten days to give Evidence against him but
the Trial not then coming on this Deponent was oblieved
to absecond and leave his House and secrete himself
for fear of being arrested for Debt And this Deponent
upon his Oath saith that he understands the
said Joseph Newman< no role >
was acquitted and further Saith that
he did not keep out of the way in favour to the prisoner
or to prevent his being convicted of the felony but merely
to prevent his this Deponents being arrested and sent
to Gaol for Debt
