John Warner< no role > of Wood Street London Brass Founder being on of the
people called Quaters Upon his Solemn Affirmation Saith That Jacob
Warner
< no role > this Affirmants Brother having in Trinity Vacation One thousand Seven
hundred and Sixty Eight commenced an Action in his Majestys Court of
Kings Bench against Michael Wilcox as the Author and Dictator of a
certain Libell by way of Letter tending much to define the said Jacob
Warner the said Cause was tried at the Sitting after last Hilary Terms
at Guildhall London and Verdict obtained thereon for One hundred and
five pounds Damages with Costs And this Affirmant Saith that on
the Twenty first of June last a Wit of Capies ad Satisfaciendum
was issued against the said Michel Wilcox< no role > for One hundred and
Twenty Six pounds being the Damages in the whole and the Warrant
granted thereon was on or about the same day delivered to Charles
Lucas One of the Serjeants at Mace who could not take the said
Michael Wilcox< no role > thereon until Wednesday the Sixth day of September
Instant When this Affirmant being informed that the said Michael
Wilcox was in London and drinking at an Alehouse in brooked
Lane with one Edward Hitchcock< no role > he went there to Seek after the
said Michael Wilcox and was informed by the said Hitchcock that
the said Michael Wilcox< no role > was gone to a Tinmans in the Borough
to enquire after employ at America where the said Michael Wilcox< no role >
said he was going as the said Hitchcock informed this Affirmant And
this Affirmant having their desired the said Hitchcock to fetch the
said Michael Wilcox this Affirmant then went to seek after the aforesaid
Charles Lucas< no role > Who not being then in the Way he left word for him to
come to this Affirmant in the Borough Where this Affirmant then Went
to Seek the said Michael Wilcox< no role > and there found him in Company
with the said Hitchcock coming towards the City and this Affirmant
then following the said Michael Wilcox< no role > , on London Bridge mett the said
Charles Lucas< no role > coming to this Affirmant and the said Charles Lucas< no role >
then Arrested the said Michael Wilcox< no role > on the aforesaid With And this
Affirmant Saith that he did not then or at any time before know or
was he informed or did he understand that the said Michael Wilcox< no role >
was then in London in Order to give Evidence on behalf of the
King against William Maggs< no role > on any Bill of Indictment to be
prefared against him, or that he had any Subpena for that
purpose or that any Bill of Indictment was intended against the
