James Parkinson< no role > of Castle Yard London Writer maketh Oath and
Saith that he this Deponent and William Wilkes< no role > of the Liberty of the Rolls Cabinet maker
having become Bail for one Edward Callan< no role > on an Assault did on account of the said
Edward Callan< no role > 's Non appearance in February last forfeit their Recognizance And this
Deponent further saith that the said Edward Callan< no role > did sometime in the Month of
May last as the Deponent verily believes privately depart from London which was the
more unexpected as the said Callan did actually attend together with this Deponent at the
Sessions Proceeding February aforesaid held for London from the Time the Court sat till it
broke up and also on the Adjournment day following in order to take his Trial for the said
Assault but other Business interfering on both the said Days the said Trial did not come
one And this Deponent further Saith that he and the other Bail William Wilkes< no role > in the
February Sessions following not being able to learn where the said Callan then was he being
then absent from home they came to Guildhall conceiving he might be there in order to take
his Tryal and they accordingly met him there when he told this Deponent that he had
neglected to get his Witnesses ready and was not prepared for Trial and that he would
endeavour to get it put of till another Time that said Callan then went into Court in order
as he told this Deponent) to make Application to have the Tryal put off and Shortly after
returned and told this Deponent and his said other Bail that he had succeeded and that
he would take care to be in readiness against the next Sessions And this Deponent further
saith that the said Edward Callan before the Time of his leaving London sent frequent
Messages to this Deponent that he would compromise the Affair with the Prosecutor and
was then about it And this Deponent Saith thatshortly after he had heard that the
said Callan had absconded he this Deponent was informed that the said Callan was in
Prison at Coventry upon a Charge of being one of the Coventry Gang tho' this Deponent upon
his Oath Saith that the said Callan had carred of this Deponent upwards of Sixty Pounds
a Year for four Years together and that he had a very good Opinion of his the said Callan's
Honesty when he became his Bail And this Deponent saith that he this Deponent made
Application immediately to Sir John Fielding< no role > and likewise wrote to Mr. Hewit Attorney at
Law and Undersheriff at Coventry to know whether said Callan was in Custody at Coventry
but he this Deponent Shortty afterwd informed by a Gentleman who recollected the said Callan
but was unacquainted with his having run away from his Bail that he the said Gentleman
went over to Dublin in the same [..] with him the said Callan And this Deponent Saith
that he has since wrote and Procured another Person to write over to Dublin to make strict
Inquiry after the said Callan but has received as yet no certain Account in what Part of
Dublin said Callan resides but this Deponent is using and intends to use his utmost Endeavours
to find the said Callan in order to surrender him up to take his Tryal at the Sessions for London
