< no role > of Hagerston in the County of Middlesex Cowkeeper jointly and severally make Oath
and say that on the tenth Day of October One thousand seven hundred and
Fifty eight They these Deponents became Bail before the Pright Honourable
She then Lord Mayor for the Appearance of the above named Defendant Thomas
Cook at the then next Sessions of the Peace for this Honourable City for
exposing to sale One hundred pounds weight and Upwards of Beef which was
unwholes some and not fit for human Ford And these Deponents say that
soon afterwards and before the said Sessions the said Defendant told these
Deponents that he would made and End of the Matter aforesaid and that they
had no Occasion to give themselves any further trouble about it And these
Deponents verily believed that the said Defendant had made an End of it
accordingly And these Deponents further say that they were about three weeks
agao informed that their Recognizance aforesaid stands for fected for Default of
the said Defendants appearance in the October Sessions following to answer
to an Indictment that was then prefered against him for the said Crime And
these Deponents say that they immediately took out a Certificate of such Indictment
and got Mr. Feilding's Warrant thereupon as the said Defendant lived in
the County of Middlesex and he was soon afterwards taken up by a Constable
in the said Warrant and brought before Mr. Feilding and as the said Defendant
could not find any good Bail was by the said Mr. Feilding committed & to prison
but soon afterwards found means to Escape from the said Constable And these
Deponents further say that they have since the said Defendant so made his
Escape as foresaid used every means in their power to retake him and that they
will Still use their atmost Endeavours and verily believe that they shall be
able to have him forth coming at the next Sessions and most Humbly pray that
this Honourable Court will be pleased to Respite their said Recognizance
