Ordered this Deponent to go down to Sunderland
aforesaid on Purpose to
make Enquiry after the said Jo. Archer< no role >
which this Deponent accordingly
did at a great Expence and made the most diligent Enquiry at
Sunderland
aforesaid after the said Jo: Archer< no role >
but could not hear of any
such Person And this Deponent is very well assured and verify
believes that there is no such Person at Sunderland
aforesaid and this
Deponent further saith that a Bill of Indictment was as this
Deponent verify believes found last Sessions against the said Titley
and Wright for a Conspiracy and also a seperate Indictment against
the said John Wright< no role >
for a Misdemeanor in respect of the said
Paper Writing purporting to be a Bill of Exchange And this Deponent
further saith that this Deponent was yesterday and not before
informed that there are Six other small Places in England called
Sunderland
which this Deponent did not know nor had board of
till yesterday And this Deponent is very well assured and verify
believes that the Governor and Directors of the Bank were unacquainted
that there was any other Place called Sunderland Except
Sunderland
in the Bishoprick of Durham otherwise this Deponent
is very well assured and verify believes that they would have
caused the like Inquiry to be made at the said several other Places
called Sunderland
as they did at Sunderland
in the Bishoprick of
Durham
And this Deponent Samuel Dod< no role >
for himself saith that
he is advised and verily believes the same to be true that the
Prosecutors cannot safely proceed to the Trial of this Causes until a
proper Inquiry has been first made after the said Jo: Archer< no role >
at the sd.
