The Information of Thomas Blee< no role > of the Parish of Saint Andrew Holborn
Breeches Maker taken upon Oath before me one of his Majesty's Justices of
the Peace for the said County This Informant saith that in the month of
December and beginning of January 1754the aforesaid Stephen Mackdonald< no role > &
John Berry< no role > This name instance is in set 3516. who are now prisoners in Newgate and one Mary Jones< no role > late of Drury Lane London Widow concerted and
agreed with this Informant to get a introduce in to his Company any one or more
persons to Comit a Robbery on the Highway and cause the Said Person or Persons to
be apprehened and Convicted thereof & share the Reward for the Conviction and in
Consequence thereof this Informant got acquainted with one Joshua Kidding< no role > at the
Sign of the Castle on Saffron hill & they agreed to go to Totenham together of which
this Informant acquainted the Said Mackdonald Berry and Mary Jones< no role > & it was conclude
between them and this Informt. that the Robbery should be committed on Tottenham
High Cross Road in order to intitle them to the Subscriptionary Reward offered there
and this Informant accordingly persuaded the Said Joshua Kidding< no role > to go with him
totowards Tottenham high Cross Road on a about the 7th of Jaunary 1754 saw Said Mary
Jones walking by herself on the Road She having (as agreed between them) got out of
a Chaise from said Berry and walked alone in order to induce this Informant in
Company with the Said Joshua Kidding< no role > to rob her and he this Informant
accordingly took from her without the Said Kiddings Consenter Assistance two Shillings and
Six pence in Silver one half penny & a Clash Knife and then this Informant
and the said Kidding (by private agreement between this Informant and the Said
Mackdonald and Berry) kept the high Road towards London and when this
Informant and said Kidding had got near Kingsland Lock the Said
Mackdonald (who was behind in order to apprehend said Kidding) appeared
in Sight upon which this Informant withdrew under a pretence to ease himself
and pointed towards said Kidding whom the Said Mackdonald soon ever took
and seized and he and Said Jones & Berry caused him to be Secured and
Convicted at the Ensuing Session at the Old Bailey & the Said Kidding was
Executed for that said Robbery in Febry following and this Informant has
heard and believes that the Said Mackdonald Berry and Mary Jones< no role > did
receive the Sume of Porty Pounds & twenty Pounds as a Reward for the
Same out of which this Informant received at different times about six
Pounds for his part or Share thereof.
