The King agt. Samuel Arrowsmith< no role >

William Griffiths< no role > of Compton in the County of Gloucester Gentleman , the
Prosecutor of the said Samuel Arrowsmith< no role > and Horatio Pitman< no role > of Now in the
Would in the same County Glazier severally make Oath and first this Deponent
Horatio Pitman saith that he very well knows William Wanley< no role > Esquire of
Eyford in the same County and that he this Deponent was with him at his House
at Eyford several times last Week and also on last Sunday Morning and saith
that the said William Wanley< no role > was during the times aforesaid very ill with the
Gent and last Saturday he sent for Mr. Anthony Combier< no role > of Stow aforesaid Surgeon
and Apothecary and Mr. Leonard Hayward< no role > of the same Place Surgeon & Apothecary
both of whom are esteemed to be Men of Shill and Knowledge in their said
Profession in that County and both of them then told the said William Wanley< no role >
in this Deponent's Presence and which he verily believes to be true that if
he the said William Wanley attempted to Come up to London to attend at this
Session it might cost him his Life as such a Journey might most probably throw
the Gent unto his Stomach And that he this Deponent believes that the said
William Wanley< no role > is at this time totally unable to take such a Journey And the said
other Deponent William Griffiths< no role > saith that the said William Wanley is
a material Witness for this Deponent upon the Prosecution of the said
Arrowsmith in London for the four forged Bills of Exchange mentioned in
his the said Arrowsmith's Warrant of Commitment and that without the
Benefit of his the said William Wanley< no role > 's Testimony He this Deponent cannot
as he is advised and verily believes safely proceed to the Trial of the said
Arrowsmith for the same And saith that the publication by him the said
Arrowsmith of theO [..] find Poundsforged Promissory Note mentioned
also in his the said Arrowsmith's Warrant of Commitment was committed in
the County of Gloucester and not else where as he verily believes, And saith that
such forged Note way for the Paymt. of One Thousand pounds.
