Maketh oath that he has been Informed & Beleives that John
Grayling< no role >
late of Hastings
aforesd. in the Sd. County of Sussex
Yeoman
was at the Summer Assizes held for the County of Sussex
in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and thirty
Eight Indicted for Assaulting & Wounding some Officers of the
Customs in the Execucon of their duty on board a Ship, & being thereof
Convicted, was Ordered to be Transported for Seven years, And this
Dept. further Saith that on the Twentieth day of November one
Thousand Seven Hundred & forty two (as he this Dept. verily beleives)
he Saw the Sd. John Grayling in Company with Sevl. others upon the
Sands near the Beach at Hastings
aforesd. in the Sd. County of Sussex
and on the Twelfth day of this Instant Jane he this Dept. again Saw
the said John Grayling< no role >
upon the Beach at Hastings
aforesaid, And
this Dept. Saith that the Sd. John Grayling< no role >
who this Dept. Saw on
the said twelfth day of this Instant Jane is (as he verily beleives)
the Same man, which he this Dept. Saw on the said Twentieth day
of November One thousand Seven Hundred & forty two And Lastly
this Dept. Saith that the sd. John Grayling< no role >
who is now in Newgate
& whom he this Dept. Saw & Spoke with this day in the said
prison, is the very Same Man he this Dept. Saw on the Sd. Twelfth
day of this Instant Jane in Sussex aforesaid
