The Humble Petition of Thomas Busby< no role >
of the
Parish of St. Giles's in the Feilds
.
Most humbly Sheweth
That Mr. Alstone the Turnkey of Newgate
being Obliged to Attend with Prisoners at Hicks's Hall
on
Satturday last, Desired your Petitioner to Assist in
looking after the Prisoners, which were then down at,
Sessions House.
That several Persons attempting to get over the Spikes
into the Court, your Petitioner Desired them to get down,
which they not complying with, He threw some Water
at them, (Knowing that it was your Lordship's Orders
that the court shou'd be kept Clear) some of which most
Unfortunately fell upon your Lordship, for which your
Petitioner is most heartily Sorry.
Your Petitioner begs leave to Assure your Lordship, that
he had not the last Suspicion of your being so near;
That, as he has a very great Veneration for your
Person, he could have no Design to Insult your Lordship
Your Petitioner therefore most humbly
beserches your Lordship to Pardon
this most Unhappy Accident.
