To the Right Honourable Sir Edward Bellamy< no role > Lord Mayor of the City
of London and to the worshipfull his Majestys Justices of the peace for the
said City in their General Quarter Sessions of the peace Assembled.

The Humble Petition and Appeal of Samuel Patison< no role > an
Inhabitant of the Parish of Christ Church London

Sheweth

That your Petitioner is an Inhabitant of the said Parish of Christ Church and an Occupyer of
one House within the said parish the Rent and Taxes of which are paid by your Petitioner who for the year 1788
hath been rated by the Church Wardens and Overseers of the said parish in much Larger Sums of money that he
ought to have been towards the releif of the poor of the said parish which said Rate or Assessment your
Petitioner Humbly Conceives is in many respects unequall Arbitary and illegall and particularly for that
diverse Inhabitants and Occupiers of Houses within the said parish some of which pay as Large and
others much Larger Rents than your Petitioner whose Circumstances do Exceed or at least Equall your
your Petitioners have for that year been rated in which less sums of money than your Petitioner And
your Petitioner Farther Sheweth that the Church Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said parish
for the said Year 1733 have made up their Accounts for the said year and procused the same to be Allowed
notwithstanding many Charges and disbursements are therein continued which are contrary to Law
and ought not to be Allowed by reason whereof great Sums of money which ought to have been applyed
to the releif of the poor of the said Parish are made use of and disburst for other purposes than by Law
they ought to be and thereby the Charge upon the Inhabitants of the said Parish and particularly upon
your Petitioner is Greatly Increased and the Rate theirby become much more burden some and as your
Petitioner Conceives Illegall by reason of such the warrantable overcharge.

Your Petitioner therefore conceiving himself greatly aggrieved
by the Rate or Assessment so made by the Church Wardens and
Overseers of the said parish for and towards the necessary Releif
of the poor of the said parish Humbly prays that the said rate
may be quashed and the said Accounts disallowed and that your
Petitioner may be releived in the premisses in such manner as to
this Court shall seen Just and Fitting

And your Petitioner shall ever pray Etc.
