Gardner hath appeared before Us (Four of His Majestys. Justices
of the Peace for the said County) And Deposeth Upon Oath the said
17th, day of July 1718 That he the said Deponent. in Company with one
Richard Balchin< no role > Walking from Chelsea to Westminster , saw a
person who has Since owned his Name to be Esau Vincent< no role > passing
through the Meadows Adjoyning to the Honble: Lady Catherine Jones< no role >
Gardens, to a Gap that had been broke the Night before through
the Paleing of the Said Lady Catherine Jones< no role > , Grounds. And Saw him
Looking through the said Gap. Near which place the Lead that
was stole was Lodged And afterwards to go in with an Empty
Baskett under his Arme upon Which the said Deponent
upon to gett Assistance, and returning found the said Esau
Vincent
< no role > concealed Amongst, the Nettles Near the aforementioned
Baskett. And further this Deponent Saith Not.
