Complaint being this day made unto us, whose hands,
and seals, are hereunto sett, Two of his Majesties Just
of the peace for this Citty and Liberties thereof (quor un)
by you the Church wardens, & overseers, for the poore of
the parish of St. Giles criplegate London That John
Scarfe< no role > togeather with Ruth< no role > his wife & two Children Vzt
Elizabeth< no role > , thirteen, & susan< no role > abt, tenn years old, ware
come into your parish, without having obryanda Legall
Settlements, & if not timely prevented, may becomet charg-
able thereunto: And for as much as it appears undo un
the said Justices upon the Oath of the said Jno. Scarfe< no role >
that he servd an apprenticeship , with one Thoms. Plumer< no role >
fringe maker, whoe was then an Inhabitant in the pre-
cince, & parish of St. Mary in the Savoy , and that he
hath not gaind any subsequence Scatemene: Wee doe
therefore adjudge the sd. psh of St. Mary in the Savoy to be
the Legll: Settlemt: of the foresd. John Scarfe< no role > , Ruth his wife
and theire two children, and theither by Law they ought
to be sent

These are therefore in his Majesties
name, requiring you she Churchwardens, & overseers for
the poore of St. Giles Criplegate abovesaid, forthwith up
on sight hereof to convey the foresaid John Scarfe< no role >
Ruth his wife , & theire two Children, into the abovesd.
parish, & precinct of St. Mary in the Savoy , theire
delivering them to the Churchwardens, & overseers
thereof, or some one of them Whoe are hereby requir'd
to find, & provide for according to Law: hereof faile not
at your perrills Given under our hands & seals this
twentieth day of December 1714
