John Harkness< no role > of ye Poultrey London Linnen draper on oath saith that about
the Twenty Seventh day of Aprill last this Depont. caused an Indictment to be
preferred and found by the Grant Jury agt. Morgan Whitley< no role > Daniel Peck< no role > Phillip Peck< no role >
Priscilla Whitley< no role > Thomas Pulford< no role > & Joseph Holden< no role > for fraudulently contriveing
a Bill of Exchange Dated the thirtieth day of September one thousand Seven
hundred & thirteen subscribed with the name of Matthew Trevor for payment of
One hundred & Ten pounds at thirty days sight to Mr Williams or order and
counterfeiting the name of John Williams< no role > upon the back of ye said bill whereby
they cheated this Depont. of One hundred and Ten pounds And this Depont. was
never informed that the said Phillip Peck< no role > had appeared unto the said Indictmt
till Monday last & not before at which day this Depont. reced a notice that
the said Phillip Peck intended to try his Traverse on friday ye fourteenth
instant which notice much surprized this Depont. who imediately thereupon
inquired for Mr. John Anthony< no role > of Harlow in the county of [..] Merieoneth
& hath been credibly informed & verily beleives that the said John Anthony< no role >
is now there or in some part of Shropshire and also this Depont. saith that ye
Sd. John Anthony< no role > is a materiall Wittness agt. the said Defendt on the said
Indictmt. & that this Depont. cannot possibly by any meanes gett the said
Anthony to be present at the said time of tryall and verily beleives the
said Anthony can prove the said bill and indorsemt. thereon to be forged
and that he hath done his utmost endeavour to have the said Anthony here
