Whereas upon Complaint at the Generall Quarter Sessions of the peace holden by Adjournmt: for the City of
London at the Tundhall of the same City within the same City on Fryday the Twenteeth day of January last by and on the
she and behalfe of the Churchwardene and Overseers of the Poor of the pish of St Buttolph without Bishopsgate London That
one Elizabeth Dealine< no role > was then lately delivered of a Male Bastard Child in the said pish whereas shee charged one Roger
Newham
< no role > to be the Father And that the said Bastard was and would be a further Charge and Burthen to the said
pish it was Ordered by the said Court That two of his Maties Justices of the Peace within this City (one being of the
Quor) and dwelling neer me Smith of the said pish should and might upon Examinacon of the Cause and
Circumstance by there Discrecone take order as well for the punishmt. of the Mother and of the reputed Father of the
said Bastard Child as also for the better Releife of the said pish in pte or in all And for the keeping of the said
Bastard Child in such wise As they should thinke meet and convenient according to the Statute in such case made
and provided As by the said Order Relacon being there unto had may appeare And whereas in psueance of the
said Order Wee under named Sr. Francis Child< no role > Knt . Lord Major of the said City of London and Sr Richard Levett< no role >
Knt and Aldran of the same City two of his Maties Justices of the peace of the said City (whereof the said Lord
Major and of the Quor) and both of Us dwelling next the Smith where the pish Church of the pish of St Buttolph
without Bishopsgate aforesaid is did appoint that all the said plies should attend Vs the said Justices this day at
Goldsmith Hall within the said City At which time and place the said plies accordingly attending to Wee the
said Justices according to the Forme of the Statute in that case made and provided did rate upon to the Examin-
acon of the said Cause and the Circumstances thereof And haveing examined upon Oath divers Witnesse
produced to do as well on the ple and behalfe of the said pish As of the said Roger Newham< no role > And upon delivard
Consideracon thereupon had Do Declare and Adjudge That the said Roger Newham< no role > is not the Father of
the said Bastard Child And that the said Charge upon him by the said Elizabeth Dealeme< no role > is false and
scandalone And Wee do therefore acquitt and charge the said Roger Newham< no role > from the said charge and
imputacon Tiven under on hand This Eighth day of February in the Tenth yeare of the Reigne of own
Soveraigne Lord William the Third of the grace of God of England Scotland France and Ireland King
