being Sworn upon his Oath saith That on the
27th day of January instant a Person applied
to this Deponent and informed him that a Lodger
had recently Died in his House as had also a Child of which
she had been lately delivered that his Name
Deponent thinks he said was Patelson
but he is not Positive as to the Name
That he had Applied to the Parish Officers
to Inter such Woman and Child but
without Effect and that being Poor he
was not able so to do himself and proposed
selling both the Mother and Child and
Added that he resided at No. 54 high
Street
Mile End New Town
That Deponent
Promised to call at his House in the Evening
and did Accordingly call about Eight o'Clk
and there saw such Woman and Child
and the Woman not appearing a fit
Subject he had no Idea of taking it and
the more especially as he had not
Communicated it to Mr. Young with whom
he was a Pupil That he did Agree to and
did Actually give to such Man a Sum of
Four Shillings for such Child and the same
was Carried Home to the House of Mr. Young
