Middlesex (to wit)

Informations of Witnesses severally
taken and acknowledged on the Behalf of Our
Sovereign Lord the King touching the Death of
Sylvia Woodcock< no role > Wife of William Woodcock< no role > , at
the Work House in the Parish of Saint Luke
Chelsea in the County of Middlesex , on the
fourth Day of November in the Year of Our
Lord 1788 before Me Richard Collett< no role > One of
His Majesty's Coroners for the said County man
Inquisition then and there taken on View of
the Body of the said Sylvia Woodcock< no role > , then and
there lying dead, as follows (to wits)

Henry Cannon< no role > Servant to Mr. Shepherd of King's
Road , Robinson's Lane, Chelsea , Gardener Being
Sworn and Examined the Day, and Year, and at the
place first above written up on his Oath saith as
follows Vizt! " On Tuesday the twenty eighth Day of"
"October last about three o'Clock in the Morning, as "
"I was going to take my Master's Cart to Market"
"as usual, I saw a Robinson Woman laying on"
"the Ground in Robinson's Lane aforesaid, it was"
"very Packts Soggy, but I had a lighted Candle in a"
"Lanthorn with me, by which I perceived the"
"Woman was terribly Wounded about Her Head and"
"Face, and with very little Signs of Life, I asked"
"Her what she did there, but she was notable"
"to give me any Answer - I was much alarmed"
"and went to One William Penny< no role > feather a Watchman"
"at the Top of Church Lane , and informed Him-"
"what were seen, and requested Him to go with"
