and Rachel Carter of the same place Spinster taken this
Eighteenth day of Decr. 1786 Who being on Oath Say And first
The said Joseph Carter< no role > for himself says Yesterday in the
Afternoon The person present who says his Name is Samuel
Spencer< no role > he received information from Mr. Edward Manley< no role > That the
said Samuel Spencer< no role > was on the Platform behind his house who he suspected
to have something under his Coat which was not his Own Property That
he went to the Platform and found said Samuel was gone down stair
to the PrivyThat he waited for his coming from the Privy and found
on Searching them The Printed Cotton Gown produced wrapt round his Body And His Waistcoat
bebuttoned over the same And that he verily beleives the said Gown to be
a Garment of his Wife Mary Carter< no role >

Room thorough which she went with said Gown to the said Back Room which
has a Door that Shuts to with Pulley, That she is certain the Gown produced is her
said Sister in Laws Garment She this Informant having Altered the same for
her said Sister And that about Ten Minutes after she had left said Gowns in the
said Back Room as aforesaid. The said Samuel Spencer< no role > was taken
