Who being upon Oath saith that on Monday the frist day of
May instant two Persons now present who call themselves John
Shepherd< no role >
and William Kerby< no role >
came into her Shop between the
Hours of 12 and 1 o Clock when said Kerby told her that he was
recommended to her Shop by an Acquaintance who had
informed him that he might have some very good silk Handkerchiefs
of herthat she (the Acquaintance) was a little busy or she
would have come with himthat this Informant then shered
him some Silk Handkerchiefsthat he asked the Price of them
that she told him the Price was three shillings and Nine Pence a Piece
that he then asked to look at some brown thread Stockings which were
in the Windowthat she shewd them to himthat he asked the Price
and she told him half a Crown a pairthat he offered five Shillings
for one Handkerchief and a pair of Stockings which she refused
that he then said he would bring his Acquaintance with him
in the Afternoon and went away and this Informant further
saith that in the Evening of same day between the Hours of
6 and 7 o Clock as well as she can recollect the said Kirby
returned with a Woman now present who calls herself Ann Shepherd< no role >
that said John Shepherd< no role >
returned to the Door of Shop but did
not enter therein - that she observed at the same time a Great Coat
hanging over his right Arm in the same manner as she had observed
in the Morningthat she asked said John Shepherd< no role >
