The Examination of John Booty< no role > taken on
Oath the Ninth day of February 1786 before me
one of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the
County of Middlesex

Who on his Oath Saith That on the or about the first day
of February Instant he fell in [..] Company with a Blackman
who calls himself by the name of Peter in Holywell Lane
in the Parish of Shoreditch towards the Evening of that day
and after some Conversation together they parted and
met together on Holywell mount the next day near to
the said Holywell lane And further saith that on the
Sunday Following the fifth day of February Instant this
Examinant and the said Blackman Peter met
together in the afternoon at a Public house the Sign
of the Red Lion in Holywell Lane aforesaid, and that
they both being destitute of money or provision they
agreed to go out and steal some thing to sell for money of for
their support and accordingly went to a house in
Steward street in the Old Artillery Ground near Spitalfield
there being a house unoccupied they together went in
at the Window of the said house and went up Stairs
and cut and carried away from the Gutter of the said
house a Quantity of Lead now produced by Thomas Hill< no role > and William
Robinson
