with Felony taken before me this first
day of November 1786

Who say and first the said James Watts< no role >
for himself saith
that he no Gardener
and that he learn't his Profession from the said
Francis Hardy< no role >
who then had the Queens Head Gardens
at Hoxton
that Hardy left the said Gardens about eleven Months ago and
took a fruit Shop in Drury Lane
which he kept near six
Months since which time he has been in Lodgings That he
worked with said Hardy near seven years at Hoxton
and has
been wish him and partook to the Profils of the Business ever
since and now lodges with him in Milford Lane in the Stra [..]
And the said Frames Hardy for himself saith that he is a Gardener
That said Watts learnt the Profession of a Gardenor from him and
has for some Years last past received a share of the profits as a
Partner with him this Examinant and now lodges with him
in Milford Lane in the Strand
And the said Watts and
Hardy for themselves further say that on Friday the twenty
seventh of October last about four o'Clock they went to the House of said Austin
to demand a Shilling that said Austin [..] to said Hardy. That
Hardy waited at about the distance to twenty Yards while
Watts asked at the House for said Austin That he said Watts was answered
by a Woman that said Austin was not at House That in a few
Minutes after they saw said Austin coming towards them That
they beckoned to him but he took no Notice but went into
his own House That they both went back to the House and Watts
went to the door of the said House and asked again if Austin
was at home ''that he saw the same Woman as before who
asked what he wanted He said Watts told her said Austin cured him one
Shilling That said Austin came out and desired owing him
any thing That said Watts then said I will summon you and after a
