The Information of Thomas Hooby< no role > Taken the [..] 13 Oct 1786 a and Sworn the 16th of the same Month
before me One of his Majestys Justices Etc in and for the said County

Thomas Mooby< no role > says he is a Seaman has been four Months from see has
lodged at the House of Mr. Potts a Publican at the Horshoe and Has near new Crane Wappers
16 Weeks has noted one any Duty since that he recd about Ten Guineas which lasted him about
Five or Six Weeks that he owes his Landlord [..] Nine Guineas or threeabouts That he has
been acquainted with JohnSwintonSwainton< no role > about five Weeks That about the hour of Seven last
night he met the said John a Little of this side Towerhill that they went to an Alehouse
near where they staid Several Hours. afterwards they went to another and between Eleven and Twelve
They met Four men in New Gravel Lane Shadwell carring the Anchor produced
that he said to the said Men they had got a fine lift when two of them let go their
hold and came up to him and SwaintonSwintonand told them if they stopped they would give
them something to drink that said Four men carryed the said Anchor into the house
of a man neat who is in Custody where they left it he and Swainton [..] keeping close
to the Door after the said Man had opened it to let the said men bring the Anchor in
[..] That he saw Two Goods Stop a Watchman who went up towards the door of said house
which was then street and went back again without going in That he and
SwaintonSwintonwalked about the Lane opposite the Door of said house about an hour When
The said Men opened the Door and asked them if they would have in said Lane The
where they had a pint of Gin which he put into a Bottle and carryed the same over to Swainton [..]
who had staid on the outside of the Door all the Time lags the sayd Man asked them
to go into his house to drink the said Gin Which they did and [..]
came into the said house who staid thereabout half an hour and as he believes the said
receiver told them to fetch a Watchman to take them in Charge as they offering to leave the
Inside of the house but said they would not go from the Doorofuntil Morning because he had
Stolen Goods in the said houseSays a Watchmanandtook them in Charge That he
insisted on the said Mans being taken into Custody That when they came to the Watchman The Officer
On hearing of the Matter sentwiththe said Watchman and two others with Joseph Young< no role > and fetched the said Anchor up to the watchhouse
says Swainton [..] knows me of the Fourmen he doth not know any of them

In Crop Examination Says He and John Swainton< no role > Thomas Swinton
went with the said Four Men to New Crane Stairs Shadwell who
promised to give them something to drink not finding any Person up they
told him and his Companion to go to the house where they had delivered
the Said Anchor which they said was very remarkable more than
any one house in the Lane and to ask the man who kept the said house
to pay them half a Guinea was the reason he went and asked
for the same and should not have troubled the Receiver meaning the said Joseph Young< no role > until
he had now the people who carried it [..] there
