Who being upon Oath say and first the said Francis Field< no role >
says that
on Friday Night the 28th of July last, about a ¼ before 9 o'Clock, as
he was coming in a Chaise, between Finchley Common
and Highgate
in company with Noah Chivers< no role >
and Joseph Wigg< no role >
, they were Stopped
by several Footpads, that on the Right side of the Chaise one of said Footpads [..] presented
a Pistol to Informants Breast and demanded his Money, whilst two
others were, at the other Door of said Chaise Robbing the said Chivers and
Wigg: that said Footpad Robbed this Informant of a Gold Watch and
three Guineas, an half Guinea and about fourteen Shillings [..]
that upon some of this Informants Companion's in other Carriages coming to his Assistance
Informant Jumped out of the Chaise upon said Footpad, when he
Received a Wound on his Head, and another on his Right hand, from another
of said Footpads [..] and fell to the ground, And further says that he
verily believes that a person now present who calls himself James
Stewart< no role >
is the Man who Robbed himofand that he jumped out upon as
aforesaid, And the said Noah Chivers< no role >
says that he was at this time
in the Chaise with said Francis Field< no role >
, and was also Robbed by the
said Footpads, of a Gold Watch, two Guineas and a half in gold, and some
silver And the said Joseph Wigg< no role >
says, that he was [..] in company
with said Francis Field< no role >
and was also Robbed by the said Footpads
of a Silver Watch and between twenty and thirty pounds in Money
And further says that he very believes that a person now present
who calls himself Robert Collins< no role >
is One of said Footpads that so robbed him as aforesaid
And the said Henry Gregory< no role >
says that on said Friday evening the 28th
of July last. about ½ past 8 o'Clock, as he was Riding in his Chaise up
Highgate Hill
from Finchley
, he met two Men going down the Hill
towards Finchley Common
, walking on the footpath, and as they passed
him, they were Close to the Chaise that said Men looked at this Informant
