Street Oxford Street , William Tymperley< no role > Servant
to the same John Tinck of No. 8 Haydon
Street Swallow Street and Robert Wakeman< no role >

this 13th. day of December 1784

Who being upon Oath say, and first the said Charles
Hopkins
< no role > says that the Portmanteau now produced containing
a Silver Tongue Scraper a pair of plated Spurrs, a pair of Silver Shoe
Buckles a pair of silver knee Buckles and a Quantity of
Wearing Apparel is his property and as he doth verily believe
was stolen from behind his Chariot on Thursday Evening last in
Oxford Street - The said William Tymperley< no role > says that about 3
oClock on Thursday last he fastened the said Portmanteau with Straps
on his said Masters Chariot at the Crown at Uxbridge That he
drove the Chariot to his Masters House in Berners Street when
the said Portmanteau was gone - The said John Tinck says
that about ¼ past 5 oClock on Thursday Night last as he going
up Oxford Street near the Pantheon he saw a person now present
who calls himself Jeffery Ashman< no role > take from behind a Chariot
the said Portmanteau on which he and said Robert Wakeman< no role >
caused him to be secured - And the said Robert Wakeman< no role > says
that he was at time coming down Oxford Street - That he saw
the said Jeffery Ashman< no role > very active and busy in pulling the
Portmanteau from behind the said Chariot - That said Ashman
put said Portmanteau on his Shoulders and attempted to run
away with the same, when he with said Tinck pursued him
about a Hundred Yards down Poland Street took him into
