to Earl Clement of
Berkley Square
in the County of Middlesex
Maketh oath and saith
that on the seventh day of June the abovenamed prisoner was committed.
to Gaol [..] on charge of having Robbed the said Earl on the Kings this surey
and this Deponent Saith that he is advised and believes the said Earl is a
Material Witness against the said Prisoner and without whose testimony
it would not be safe to proceed to his trial and this Deponent further saith
that the said Earl hath been for a great number of Years past postmaster
General of Ireland and continued is until the fifth day of the
Instant Inby, on whit day an Act of Parliament took Place
regulating the Management of the said post office And the said Earl
being then to quit his office of postmaster it became necessary as
Deponent informed and believes for the said Earl to Surrender up
his said office to his Successors And this Deponent saith that the said
Earl quitted London for that purpose last Monday fortnight and
informed this Deponent that he should return in about Six Weeks
and this Deponent believes the said Earl is drow necessarily
engaged in Ireland
in the before mentioned business [..] but has
no doubt he to will return and prosecute the said prisoner at
the next Session:
