Who saith that heyesterdaywith his Comrade Soldier
John Liddell< no role >
(both Soldiers in the foot Guards) sat out last
Night about 6 o'Clock from Tothill Street Westminster
to
go to Edgware, to apprehend a Deserter whose Name he
doth not know. That they got to Edgware abt. 8 o'Clock
and as he and said Liddell were going along they were followed
by Aldridge Hawkes< no role >
& Francis Ansell< no role >
now present, who were
on Horseback and told them to stop, otherwise they would
Short them, on which he and said Liddell threw down two Bayonets
now produced and the said Liddell ran away. That
he nor, said Liddell did not stop nor rob Wm. Hawkes< no role >
of ten pence nor Thomas Barb< no role >
of three shillings and
six pence and a silk Handkerchief, of which they are charged.
The he hath had the Silk HandKerchief found in his Breeches
a Month and that at the Shilling sworn to by said Thomas Barb< no role >
he received amongst other Money of his Pay Master Serjeant
for his Pay Yesterday
