me One of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace in and
for the said County the Thirtieth day of May One
thousand seven hundred and Eighty two
And First this Informant Thomas Scrivans< no role >
for himself
Saith That he is Servant
to Richard [..] ssey Esquire of Greek Street
Soho That he Sent a large Brown Great Coat his said Masters property
to a Person with Directions for him to leave the same at Mr. Thomas
Massey< no role >
s No: 21 Greek Street aforesaid Victualler That on Monday last
about 4 o'Clock in the afternoon he went to the said Mr. Masseys for
the said Coat and was informed the same had been Taken away by one
William Fife< no role >
a Green Grocer
And this Informant John Burga for himself Saith That
he is Servant to the said Thomas Massey< no role >
and is in the Fourteenth
year of his Age Thaton Monday last about 3 o'Clock in
the Afternoon one William Fife< no role >
came to his said Masters house and
had a Pint of Beer That the Great Coat abovementioned was brought to
his said Masters and was thrown on the Settle in the Tap room
where Fife was Sitting Drinking his Beer with another person
That he saw Fife take the Great Coat and put the same under his
Apron and then called for a Penny worth of Beer and went into
the Passage
and Drank it and paid him for the same and then
went away and took the Coat with him
That about 5 o'Clock the same Afternoon his Master asked
him where the Coat was and he informed him, Fife had taken
it away That his Master told him it was not Fife's and desired
him to go to Fife and he did and took with him One Matter shall
That he asked Fife where the Great Coat was That he took away as
aforesaid when after a short pause he said he had not got it
