in this 3rd. day of November 1781
Who being upon Oath saith, that about the middle of
August last a person now present who calls himself Mathew Mathewson< no role >
came to this Informants (House with one Guineas worth of
Silver) said he meant to oblige him with it, and asked him for
the Guinea for itThat he then offered him a Guinea for it;
on which said Mathewson observed that he objected to that
Guinea (as well as several others) saying that the Guinea he
wanted, was of a particular dateSays that during the
time he was so concerning with the said Mathewson he is
very sure the said Mathewson stole a Guinea out of
his handThat this Evening about Dusk the said
Mathewson came again under pretence of getting Change
for a Guineathat recollecting him again he immediately
charged him with having stolen his Guinea on which he
ran away but was soon afterwards taken
