The voluntary EXamination and Information of
Mary Anderson< no role > Spinster Taken and made on Oath
before me one of his Majestys Justices of the Peace for
the said County of Middlesex the 90th. day of July 1781

Who Saith That She very well knows Elizabeth Carter< no role >
Spinster and That on Sunday the 22nd. of July Instant She was
in Company with her and a Man at the Boot Alehouse in Cross
Lane Saint Giles in the fields That They had some Beer together
and about Eleven o'Clock in the forenoon of the same day the said
Elizabeth Carter< no role > and the Man went from the said Alehouse to
a Lodging room in the Dwelling house of one Mr. Shearing in Scotts
Rents St. Giles in the Fields aforesaidThat after They had been
together for near an hour the said Elizabeth Carter< no role > came down
Stairs in to the Street were this Informant was then Standing
and Throwed a Watch into her this Informants Lap and
said She had Taken it from the said Man And this
Information saith That it was a Silver Watch with a Steal Chain
and Sliver Seal And after They had Consulted together how
they should dispose of such Watch They said Elizabeth Carter< no role >
Proposed to Take it to one Mrs. Brown in Field Lane who
She said would Buy the SameThat about 9 o'Clock of
the Sacae afternoon She this Informant and the said Elizabeth
Carter
< no role > went together to the House of the said Mrs. Brown
Carter Stood a few Yards distance and this Informant went
into the House This Informant acquainted Mrs. Brown
That She had a Watch to Sell - and the said Mrs. Brown
asked her whose it was and she said it was her own
Mrs. Brown then asked her what She asked for it this
Informant Said a Guinea But She Refused to give her
a Guinea But agreed to give herhisFifteen Shillings
for the said Watch which She did (that is to day) Four Shillings
in Counter feit half pence and the remainder in Silver for the
purchase of the said Watch After which the said Mrs. Brown asked
this Informants if any body was with her For that She had, has a great
many Switchers lately But if She had any body with her the Watch-
Should near been Seen again for She would put it out of the way.
