Justices of the peace for the said County
Who being severally upon Oath say And first this
Informant Elizabeth Steed for herself saith that
this Days she went to the House of Wm Moulds< no role >
at the
Sign of the Cock
in Dyot Street
Saint Giles
to have a
Rabbit Caved upon her coming into the House the
Person now present who calls himself Thomas Jones< no role >
offered to Case it but this Informant thinking it not
safe in his hands would not let him do it Upon
which Oneother Informant
William Chew< no role >
took the said
Rabbit [..] & Panneked it this Informant then
took the said Rabbit from the said Chew & the said
Thomas Jones then laid held of her left hand with
great Violenceandwrenched the plain Gold Ring now
produced from of her third Finger of the left hand
and Feloniously took and Carried away the same
that about half an hour after the said Ring was
so Stolen this Informant was told by one Ann

that the said Thomas Jones hadbeenoffered
her Ring to pawn at Mr Jeyes [..] in Denmark
Street Saint Giles upon which this Informant
Cause the said Thomas Jones to be apprehended
and that the Ring now produced is the property of this
Informants Husband John Steed
And this Informant Joseph Chappel for himself
saith that he was present this Day when the
abovenamed Thomas Jones Serged hold of the other
Informant Elizabeth Steed by the hand. & said him
with great force and Violence wrench the plain
Gold Ring now produced from off her Finger and
took & Carried away the same and at the same time
Swore an oath that he would go and pawn it.
