Consideration paid by the said Dawson to the
said Jacobs And that he the said Dawson
also deposed and believed that the said Jacobs uttered the
said Note with and Intent to Cheat and defraud
him of the said Forty pounds Mentioned in the
said Note knowing the said Note to be forged and
Counterfeited
And this Deponent Elizabeth Welch< no role > for
herself saith that Mary Jackson< no role > was on Monday
last at her Lodging in Gravel Lane aforesaid
applied to by a person who called himself a friend
of the said Jacobs to make up this prosecution
and that he then and there told the said Mary Jackson< no role >
the Prosecutrix abovenamed that no harm woud
accrue to her in Compounding the sameAnd this
Deponent further saith that she said Prosecutrix
was very reluctant in Complying with the said
persons request but did Comply to meet him at the
Crown in Gravel Lane aforesaid in here this Deponent
together with the said Prosecutrix went to the place
appointed and from thence to the Note Coffee house
in Mitre Court Fleet Street where then and there was
one Mr Watkinson whom said he Attended on the behalf
of Mr Jacobs to make up matters between Jacobs and
the sd Mrs. Jackson and that he the said Watkinson
woud then and there pay her the sd Forty pounds mentioned in
the sd note if she woud promisethnot to appear against
the said Jacobs on the sd prosecutrix she was Still very
reluctant in Complying with this Offer but was Over persuaded
by the sd Watkinson and others that were in Company and
whom called themselves friends of Jacobs telling her that no
harm could or woud around to herwithby such Complyance And
this Deponent further saith that sd Watkinson took this Dept
and said Prosecutrix from the Tops Coffee house aforesaid
