Thomas Broose of Lawrence Poultney Lane London Poulterer
Severally Make Oath and Say and first this Deponent Robert
Johnston
< no role > for himself Saith that one Tom who plies asthea Pater
in the Middle Temple and the Other Inns of Court (whose Sir name
this Deponent has not yet been Able to find out) is a Material
Witness for this Deponent on the Tryal of this Indictment and
without whose Testimony this Deponent cannot Safety proceed
to the Tryal thereof And this Deponent further Saith Several
times since his Commitment for this offence before and since the
Commencement of this present Session he hath Caused diligent
Search and Enquiry to be made of the Porters in and about the
Temples and Other Inns of Court and at Several Public Houses
where the said person frequents in Order that he might be
Subpena'd to give Evidence for this Deponent on the above
Tryal but hath not been Able to find out the said person for the
purpose aforesaid but this Deponent is informed by the persons
who made such Enquiry that it was uncertain where the said
person could be met with but believes he shall be able to
find him out so as to get him Subpena'd to give Evidence for
this Deponent on the Tryal of this Indictment at the next
Sessions which Information he this Deponent verily believes
to be true And this Deponent Thomas Breese< no role > for himself
Saith that at the request of the above Defendant he did
yesterday make the most diligent Search and Enquiry in and
about the Temples and the Inns of Court where this Deponent
was informed the said person called Tom usually plies a
Porter and also at the Several Public Houses near there where
